Western Health welcomed 105 new interns last month, the largest cohort we have ever had working with us. They are working across Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown Hospitals, with some new intern rotations this year in Pain & Periop Care, Radiology, Acute Psychiatry and Stroke.

The new interns are working this year under the brand new National Framework for Prevocational Doctors, which aims to provide better supervision, more consistency, and a greater focus on the importance of culturally appropriate clinical care.

Western Health is often cited by incoming interns as a popular choice due to its excellent training and diversity of clinical experience, and the overwhelming majority of our interns stay at Western for their PGY2 and beyond.
