Paul joined Western Health as CMO in February 2018. He joined us from Austin Health, where he held the position of Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Director of Quality and Patient Safety.
Paul began his medical career as an intern at Western Health. After initially training in surgery, he pursued a career in medical leadership and management and completed his Master in Health Administration in 2015. Paul is committed to innovation, quality improvement and has a strong interest in medical education and research. He is an advocate for positive mental health and wellbeing for clinicians, and is an ambassador and speaker for beyondblue.
Birinder joined Western Health in 2019 and was appointed as Deputy CMO in 2020. He completed his internship and resident training at Alfred Health, and has experience as a Medical Administration Registrar at Western Health and Epworth Healthcare. He completed his Masters of Health Management in 2020.
Birinder is a member of the Western Health Positive Medical Workplace Advisory Committee. He has a strong interest in collaborative research and was awarded a research grant in 2018 for his study “Implementation of a structured medical handover & interprofessional huddle at a metropolitan hospital: impact on frequency of deterioration of ward patients”.
