Registrar Teaching

Registrar teaching is tailored to each training pathway and is provided on a unit-specific basis, including:

Physician Education

Western Health offers a comprehensive Basic Physician Trainee lecture series, tailored for physician trainees preparing for the RACP exams, but open to all. Western Health also offers a large number of clinical exam lectures, tutorials and exam case preparation opportunities for physician trainees preparing for their clinical exams. There is a high success rate for trainees sitting the RACP written and clinical exams, and for progression into accredited advanced training positions.

We foster a high standard of clinical and professional excellence amongst our physician training cohort, with a supportive and collegiate atmosphere within the division of medicine.

Surgical Education

Western Health is a great place to start your surgical career. We offer formal teaching with surgical lectures and skills labs, as well as enthusiastic bedside teaching on the ward and in the operating theatre.

We support HMOs applying for SET training and have a high success rate in SET exams. Surgical training opportunities at Western Health are extensive and pre-SET and SET training is available in nearly all sub-specialities.

Paediatric Education

Western Health has a comprehensive weekly paediatric education program across the general paediatrics, neonatal intensive care, and paediatric emergency units.

Paediatric trainees preparing for the RACP Clinical Exam are highly supported through a tailored 3 month exam education program, with weekly tutorials and dedicated case practice.
