“I’ve felt so well supported whilst finding my feet in my first few months as a junior doctor. People have never hesitated to offer their help and I have always been confident that everyone is doing their best to look out for each other and our patients.”

Together, caring for the West.
Our patients, staff, community & environment.

We provide comprehensive health care to approximately one million people in Melbourne’s rapidly growing western region. Our community stretches from Maribyrnong to Melton and from Williamstown to Wyndham.

The Western Health network includes tertiary hospitals at Footscray and Sunshine, secondary hospitals at Williamstown and Sunbury, and many community-based services.

Our teaching hospitals are affiliated with the University of Melbourne School of Medicine, and the University of Notre Dame School of Medicine.

We have a strong focus on junior doctor education with a dedicated weekly intern and HMO education program, simulation and workshops for junior doctors, hospital grand rounds and a broad range of unit-specific education sessions.

The Western Centre for Health Research and Education (WCHRE) at the Sunshine Hospital campus is a purpose built teaching and research facility, including a state-of-the-art Simulation Centre.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Western Health community.

Western Health employs over 700 junior doctors including more than 90 interns, 240 HMOs and 370 registrars.
